The Giant Manufacturing Company, Ltd., which is headquartered in Taiwan, has been making bikes since 1972. The largest bicycle maker in the world, Giant offers various road bikes, which they list in three categories—Competition, Performance and Fitness. Performance Road Bikes
If you’re a rider who uses your bike for more than one type of outing, then consider the Performance series. There are three major models in this category; all of which are part of the Defy line. Designed to be competitive on short sprints and comfortable and efficient on long road trips, this road bike utilizes10-speed Shimano 105 shifting with a triple FSA Gossamer crankset. The Defy Advanced is made from high quality composite materials, while the Defy Alliance integrates composite construction and premium aluminum features to enhance performance. The Defy offers the racer’s edge with its newly developed Aluxx SL Aluminum frame.
Fitness Bicycles:
The Fitness series, which features four different FCR road bikes, is about staying healthy. The FCR models are designed for comfort, speed and efficiency. The top of the line, the FCR Alliance, uses Giant’s Alliance Technology frameset, which is made of mixed material. Lightweight, easy to control and smooth riding, FCR Alliance is a durable cycle. The other three FCR models feature light framesets made from Aluxx, Giant’s groundbreaking aluminum product. These road bikes handle nicely, taking tough corners and steep slopes with aplomb.
