Cannondale road bikes are relative newcomers on the cycling scene. The company started producing aluminum frames in 1984 which were a departure from the steel frames that dominated the industry at the time. In 2004 they joined the carbon bandwagon and added composite carbon/alloy frames to their lineup in the form of the Six13; and the following year added the all-carbon Synapse series.
